About Us

Our mission is to create a diverse and high quality gaming experience for GMs
to enhance their 5e in-person and virtual tabletop games.

Fey Light Studio is three friends creating content for the hobby we love. Our passion for telling stories and creating maps has led us on this journey. Join us for the ride, adventure awaits.

Our formative years consisted  of Douglas Adams, Larry Elmore, Frank Herbert, Tracy Hickman, Jeff Grubb, Robert Jordan, Ursula K. Le Guin, George Lucas, Anne McCaffrey, Rankin and Bass, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Margaret Weis. These storytellers fed our young imaginations until we began telling our own tales, whether it was a beleaguered group of heroes trying to survive in wartorn Krynn or about a crazy jawa who thought he was a Jedi but really just had delusions of grandeur.

As we got older we found new worlds to explore. A bunch of nerdy ass voice actors, Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman, N. K. Jemisin, Brian K. Murphy, Terry Pratchett, Patrick Rothfuss, Deven Rue, Brandon Sanderson, and Catherine Webb inspired our later creations.

Our imaginations ran wild and we followed.

James is a former high school English teacher of creative writing and composition, which basically means he’s a writer who loves to help other writers write better. He also worked as an editor for Booth: A Journal at Butler University, and as a designer and editor for the Frederick Douglass Paper Project at IUPUI. Both experiences trained his eye for words on a page, and he brings that expertise for crafting beautiful books to Fey Light Studio.

Brett lives in the green and foggy mountains of western North Carolina with his wife and three cats. He has a degree in design and a lifelong interest in drawing and painting.  In early 2020 he taught himself the art of battlemappery! He draws inspiration for his creations from the mountains around Asheville, NC.  When not gaming, drawing or bartending Brett runs, hikes and hangs out at the local breweries and restaurants and is looking forward to the greatest adventure, creating content for the greatest fan base the world has ever known… GAMERS!
